Eng. Angela Kapembwa

Eng. Angela Kapembwa is a highly skilled female engineer with a strong dedication towards sustainable development and progress. In 2017, she completed her Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the prestigious University of Namibia. Soon after, Angela started her career as a trainee engineer at Bremen Overseas Research and Development Association (BORDA) Zambia, where she gained valuable experience in on-site sanitation, faecal sludge management, solid waste management, and monitoring and evaluation. She also attended a variety of short courses in India, Italy, Uganda, and Tanzania to enhance her knowledge and skills.

In recognition of her exceptional talents, Eng. Angela was awarded the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Scholarship in 2019 to pursue a Master’s of Science in Sanitation from the esteemed IHE Delft Institute for Water Education in The Netherlands. Her thesis focused on establishing institutional capacities to achieve city-wide inclusive sanitation in Accra and Abidjan. Eng. Angela graduated with honors, becoming the first and youngest female in Zambia to attain this qualification.

Upon returning in 2020, she was promoted to Project Engineer in the same organization, broadening her scope of work and responsibility in WASH project activity planning, implementation and monitoring. In 2023, she was further promoted to Project Manager, where she currently manages a three-year project portfolio, responsible for budgeting, management, planning, implementing, and impact monitoring and reporting. Eng. Angela works with a broad spectrum of stakeholders at all levels, from policy makers to grassroots communities, leveraging stakeholder engagement to ensure successful project implementation.

She has also conducted various research and trainings in Decentralized Wastewater Treatment Solutions (DEWATS) best approaches, OSS & FSM and SWM. To connect with a wider audience and make an impact, Eng. Angela has positioned herself as a public figure and STEM Influencer whose main objective is to inspire young people, especially females, who aspire to join STEM fields.
