Eng. Patricia Mankumbwa

Eng. Patricia Mankumbwa is an accomplished Zambian trained Metallurgical Engineer from The Copperbelt University. She joined Kanshi Mining Plc in 2015 under the FQM graduate program in 2015. Joining as a graduate trainee in the prestigious FQM program, her talent shone through, leading to a promotion to Optimization Metallurgist within eight months.

Not one to shy away from challenges, Eng. Patricia tackled increasingly demanding roles over the next two years, even covering for the Senior Metallurgist and Flotation Superintendent. In 2018, her dedication earned her a coveted spot on the Zambian team commissioned to bring FQM's flagship Cobre Panama mine to life.

Returning from Panama as a seasoned Senior Metallurgist, she was entrusted with the critical task of developing and optimizing the Kansanshi process plant. Her exceptional performance paved the way for her historic promotion a year later, becoming the first and youngest female Zambian Technical Superintendent. Leading a team of thirty metallurgists, technicians, and workers, she spearheads successful projects with unwavering focus.

Currently, she captains the team behind the monumental $1.25 billion FQM Sulphide 3 project, collaborating closely with both Site and FQM teams to design circuits, equipment, and commissioning strategies for the Kansanshi mine expansion.

Eng. Patricia is also a passionate mentor, fostering the growth of aspiring metallurgists and interns. Her impact extends beyond technical brilliance. A passionate mentor. She tirelessly champions inclusion, equity, and diversity, actively dismantling stereotypes and proving her mettle throughout her career.
