Eng. Taperewa Namwinga Kabwe

A farmer, entrepreneur, and proud mother of four with over 11 years of work experience, Eng. Taperewa Namwinga Kabwe is a Metallurgical Engineer specializing in physical metallurgy. She is the founder and CEO of Mwelta Enterprise, a microfinance firm founded in 2017. Additionally, she works as the Senior Technical Inspections Engineer at INDENI Energy on a contract basis. Eng. Taperewa also co-founded LauncHER Engineers Hub in 2023, where she serves as the Director for Public Relations and Community Outreach. She is also the Director of Engineering for Multi-people’s Power Cooperative and, with her husband, she opened Bainite Solutions in 2023, specializing in property valuation, estate management and agency, and engineering consultancy.

Eng. Taperewa holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Metallurgical Engineering from The Copperbelt University and a Diploma in International Welding Inspection Personnel from SAIW in Johannesburg, South Africa. She has worked for Indeni for 11 years, starting as an intern and progressing to the role of Metal Inspector and finally Senior Technical Inspections Engineer.

Eng. Taperewa has served in various leadership roles, and she was nominated by then-student Representative Eng. Sharon Musonda to serve as the Student Representative on the EIZ 55th Council, a position she held for 2 years. She is also a Co-founder of Zambia Women in Engineering Section (ZWES) and was the first elected Chairperson for ZWES. Eng. Taperewa also served as the Engineer Representative on the 60th Council and was the Vice-Chairperson for the Engineering Technical Committee responsible for investigating engineering malpractice.
